| | Ready for the Weekend - Calvin Harris | ] | Hello friends, it has been a while on here. I do keep LJ open and read everyones entries, just not made the effort on here myself because of facebook's convenience. Many aspects of my life have changed this year which I guess is pretty sweet.
I finally became a permanent member of staff in June after temping for 2 and a half years. This in turn led me to finally moving out of my parents house 5 weeks ago. Landed a house in Springbourne with 2 randoms and luck had it that they're really great to get on with. The house is great, closer to work and also a convenient location for me going to see AFC Bournemouth every home game. I bit the bullet and bought a season ticket this year which I am enjoying very much.
I went to Egypt in July for this years holiday with just Vinny and it was a very relaxing two weeks which introduced me to the world of deep sea diving. I took a beginners dive and was hooked after that, going through a Scuba diver course and overspending my budget by about £300. Totally worth it, the world underwater is truly incredible, especially in the Red Sea. Besides that it was a really fun fortnight, typical British persons summer holiday really but I'm cool with that. Didn't bother with HTID this year as I've not been raving in about 8 months. No particular reason, we've just not bothered piping up whenever a local event happens.
Gaming this year has been pretty good with InFamous still being my favourite game so far, although Batman AA could well overtake it at this rate. Still much more to come yet, FIFA 10 is going down a treat in the house. I'm also picking up one of those Samsung LED TV's tomorrow, what a beast.
Currently seeing someone, Holly is a nice girl although quite nitpicky at times and moans whenever I watch footy instead of seeing her. Women need to learn their place when it comes to footy (they don't have one). Guess it wouldn't be a relationship if we got on really well all the time. Still early days but could go places, time will tell.
Hope all is well with everyone. I will try to make Chris' birthday at end of November but money isn't as spare as it used to be now. I do need to come see you lot regardless, think it's been just under a year now.
Finally roll on World Cup 2010! Think England's chances are the best they've ever been, really looking forward to next summer :-) |

After another 10 days of HTID in the Sun, I still don't feel fully quite right. Going back to the work the day after getting back was brutal and I'm needing alot of sleep. Alcohol can fuck off for a while now methinks.
It was a very fun 10 days, although it has taught me to never book a holiday with two people in my group that I have never met before. It was very much like last year otherwise, only with extra days each side of the event for us to do other things like go to the Nou Camp stadium for a tour, rinse out free bars and eat paella. Drinking until 5am on one of the last nights with my favourite dj ever (Brisk) was an experience and a half. Love how he's so down to earth as well as being a complete wreckhead.
The night I got back I was very stupid and bought myself a new PC. Messing around with it now still and am very pleased, even Crysis (demo) works really nicely on it. It was long overdue really since my previous heap is almost 5 years old and constantly crashed if I so much as opened msn, avant browser and iTunes at the same time.
Despite my constant slagging off of the smokey capital of this country, it looks like I may eventually have to bite the bullet and eat shit waffles. I don't know how long my current contract at LV will carry on for (currently until end of July with probable extension) but otherwise finding new work in Bournemouth has been proving difficult in this particular field and I just know London will offer far more opportunity. So before the end of 2008 I am "planning" on making the move, most likely with Vinny as well. I'll be rinsing out this current job as long as I can in the meantime but soon I shall start applying for work up there and see how it goes.
I've enjoyed the european finals very much, to the point that I've even been gambling on them. I am however abiding by the 5 golden rules of gambling and betting within my means. Still up on my winnings and hoping a Spanish victory tomorrow (within 90 minutes) will secure me some more. Then I'll probably continue when the league starts again. I dunno, I enjoy the rush from it, without throwing away large amounts of my earnings and combining it with football just makes it all the more exciting.
Oh yeah, and as agreed with Joanne, I will be travelling to Darlo on 3rd of January to watch Bournemouth play against them. Now to see if she upholds her end of the deal on September 27th ;] |

| | IV - X-Japan | ] | Time is flying... good fucking riddance to it. The start of the year is always shitty. The recent sunshine has put me in a far better mood overall as I know summer is getting near.
I've gotten back into football this year, as in league footy. I use to follow the league alot a few years ago but kinda lost touch with it and only paid attention to international competitions. But I'm glad I'm back into it really, its a beautiful sport and one of the few things about this shitty country that I can be proud of. Plus it makes my weekends all the more to look forward to, what with Sky Sports and their live matches.
Footy has cut down on my video game playing time though, which in a way ain't so good because I have far too many unfinished games and far too many I want to buy this year. I even recently bought a Wii (shut up) mainly so I could play through Mario Galaxy. I'm sure there'll be at least one other game I want to play on it in its lifespan (fingers crossed). Nah, I'm being a bit harsh. Metroid Prime 3 ain't half bad and neither is Super Paper Mario. Looking forward to GTA4 next week though, I haven't booked time off work for it but I know a few people who have :|
I ran the Bournemouth half marathon again at end of March. Found it an easy enough feat but it pretty much concreted into my head that I could never finish a full marathon. My legs had taken so much of a beating by my body weight, that by the end, the thought of doing that distance again was just stupid. I improved my last year time by a couple of minutes, but probably could have done better if I hadn't gone on a school re-union drinking binge two nights prior to it. It was nice seeing you again Ant you big green fuck.
Work life is fine, although my current job tenure is yet again coming to an end soon so I'm in the interview phase for new positions. Not sure if I want to branch off as a specialist or go into management instead. Think I'm pretty much stuck in this finance boloney though.
My 24th birthday was pretty good, if expensive. Going to my favourite strip bar Wiggle might have had something to do with that. Throwing up in the taxi (not for the first time in my life might I add) on the way home also might have made an impact.
Not much else to say really. This year has so far been a typical year of work, raves, roadtrips, games, debt and frustrating 17 year old girl workmates (okay the latter isn't typical, just making a point so hopefully I can one day look back on it and laugh). Off to the big polluted capital next weekend for Freeformation but all the hotels in Vauxhall are booked because of the motherFUCKING bank holiday. Looks like a Sunday on no sleep in London it is before we go home :D
See you again in a few months LJ. |

This post is purely for the quiz. I'll just summarise shit thats current then wait another few months.
- I'm still living at home, annoyingly (not because I don't like it here, but because it has been a plan all year that never came to anything). - I'm liking my job at LV, its challenging without being too monotonous and the people are still the same old good team. - My pet rabbit died last week, at the age of 12 (almost 13). Quite amazing to think he was over half my age and that I bought him when I had started secondary school. Couldn't help but shed a tear or two for the little fella. - Have bought mum a DS for christmas, still don't have one of my own though. She'll totally love Brain Training. - Actually find I enjoy spoiling my parents with random meals out and gifts every now and then. - Bought 16gig iPod Touch couple months back. Its very nice, I like.
Happy crimbo and new year to all. |

| | tired | ] | Another 12 hour shift, been pulling a few of these lately. Not that I have much choice but, still, "think of the the money" as they all say... Better be out of here soon as tonight is Frenzy with Brisk and Clodknockers (well her name is Clodhopper but she has huge knockers).
I cleared the overdraft a few weeks back so went mental with technology, buying a 32" Samsung HD TV, a 360 Elite and a PS3 within the space of a month to celebrate. Never thought I'd say in my life but been at Halo 3 quite a bit the past week. The single player is complete meh in the face of Bioshock and The Darkness but multi is extremely solid. For my first time ever, I give a Halo game a thumbs up.
I'm also going back to LV in two weeks time since they were "eager" to have me back and they offered me more guaranteed work time than my current job can, and fractionally more pay so I'm sold. Nice to go back to the old team again.
Gotta work now, toodles! |

| | contemplative | ] | This is a frustrating time, HSBC are raping my overdraft and therefore my next 3 weeks of pay packets have to go directly to them (after rent) leaving me with next to nothing for social activities or video games. I'd advise any future students, if you know any, against going to them because they really screw you over badly once you graduate.
My reward at the end of the ordeal is Capital Carnage on 8th September at SeOne, London. Not sure where this place is yet but given its one of the best line ups I've seen this year for £10, we're so there. Venue looks great as well.
I also will be grabbing myself a HDTV as I've wanted one for the longest time and more 360 games are relying on one just so you can read the text. Speaking of which, the pending release of Bioshock and Blue Dragon at the end of this month aren't gonna do my CC much good.
Saturday being the first warm Saturday since June, we headed to the very rammed Bournemouth beach and had a few bottles in the sun. Didn't actually go in the sea but I need to this year, I always go in at least once a year. Later that Saturday involved seeing the Simpsons movie (was fairly good, 3G's) at Tower Park then going for extremely cheap bowling at £1 a game after midnight. I didn't manage to win any of the four games out of three of us but some good tunes were played and some pints were downed. Despite being shit at bowling its something I enjoy quite alot now and this weekly cheap night should be something to do more often.
I'm also watching Big Brother this year for the first time. I know, call me a hypocrite if you must given my hatred of the show in the past, I won't dispute that. It makes me think about how much of a stressy mofo I used to be compared to now over the most pointless of things and would display certain attitudes for the sakes of appearances. Shows that alot of things have changed for the better in my life. Oh my days. |

| | tired | ] | Hey.. sup. Works been pretty hectic for the first time ever due to team members being off sick long term. I'm presenting a database to american bigwigs this week and I'm petrified since I didn't have any part in its creation so therefore have limited knowledge of it. Still it got me some overtime which mounts up nicely at time and a half. Already halfway to clearing my student overdraft and SHOULD know in the next couple of weeks whether they want to keep me long term or not.
I'll summarise other shit in bullet point form:
- Bournemouth beach on a Friday summer night is even more pikey infested than ever.
- Had a scare last night at Destiny, I wore summer shorts which have fairly loose pockets due to the summer lovin' theme. My phone and cash card fell out my pocket when sat on the sofa (presumably) and thought I'd lost them for good when I noticed they had disappeared later. Much to my relief and gratitude someone had handed them in to the bar nearby, that person deserves a medal because I honestly expected someone to pocket them.
- Summer this year is shit, I've still not been to Bournemouth beach to sunbathe and its fucking August soon.
- London last weekend was enjoyable, can't believe I actually won a game of bowling. Club AKA was nice enough, but as Chris said, very bad music, as in you could not tell one song from the other at all. Was a nice idea of Stels to visit somewhere different though and I had a good time, hoping he did as well.
- I recorded my first hardcore mix and its available to download (thanks to Char for hosting) if you want to a have a gander at how bad some DJ's can be. All details and link under the cut below.

Now I'm not being nasty here, I've nothing against people coming over to England, after all I'm just as guilty by visiting Spain this year. But seriously, what is with the sudden surge of foreign students? (all european from what I can tell, i.e the girls are mega hot) This week they seem to have appeared out of nowhere, literally hundreds of them. Getting a bus to/from town any time in the evening is like rush hour in London and town is covered with huge groups of them. I assume they're here for all of the summer but I really hope this rush can calm down. Never known so many of them to be here at one time.
It looks like I'll be moving out of parents house finally within the next four months as Vince and Olly are both up for flat sharing. We're even thinking about the possibility of moving to Poole which would be an alright change of scenery and nightlife without being too far from Bournemouth. Just a case of work arrangements but I look forward to moving nonetheless. I wanna have my overdraft that I mounted up at uni gone before I do move though, I've been paying it off since I returned from Spain and at this rate should be done within 2 to 3 months.
I've already started applying for permanent job positions within this company elsewhere and back at LV. I like to feel my contribution at a job makes a difference, but here I've never felt so useless and I'm not settling for that, no matter how good the wage is.
This shall be a quiet weekend as next weekend I'm celebrating two birthdays, Ollys on Friday night (and what beter way to celebrate a birthday than with Kym Ayres eh) and Stels on Saturday. Its gonna be a huge cash drain so should prepare accordingly. I was gonna be going to Slinky tonight in Portsmouth but circumstances with Josh have made it impossible and in a way I'm glad, the money saved will help.
Yay that killed a good 40 minutes. Now I shall browse various gaming forums and continue chatting on dsi until lunchtime, thats what this job has come to :(
P.S Hardcore Adrenaline 2 is out now and features 3 songs by JAKAZiD. And they're actually really good tracks that he deserves recognition for, rather than Cillit Bang. So if you're feeling charitable, pick it up, available in all good music stores now!
P.P.S: Might as well get this over with in one entry plus I barely ever do it, self excluded.

I was waiting impatiently as usual for my ever late bus whilst she was on her phone having an obvious massive tiff with her boyfriend. The amount of effing and accusations made me feel pretty uncomfortable since I was the only other person there and so I walked away from the bus stop a good few meters. After she hung up she actually came over and asked what my problem was, I was pretty dumbstruck. I told her that her argument was none of my business and that I didn't particularly want to hear it on a Monday morning, but when she didn't like that and persisted to be an annoyance I told her to fuck off just as the bus pulled in. I hopped on and she decided to walk away rather than catch the bus she was waiting for. Some people are fucking strange.
I'm still writing my Spain entry but its gonna be a monster, probs around the 5000 word mark. Luckily it will be under an LJ cut as I have considerations for peoples friends pages.

Back at work again, so quickly too. Not actually done any work today yet, and no I'm not exaggerating. The boss is away for two weeks and my supervisor just doesn't give me anything to do. I can see myself going back to LV soon since I have a 90% chance of getting my old job back permanently, just gotta blag a decent enough salary from them.
Needless to say, HTID In The Sun was fucking incredible. A completely knackering week which I still feel even now but so many good times and memories. I'm definitely gonna write up a full entry with photos sometime soon just so I can read back on it in years to come and remind myself of such a sweet week. Don't go near Char, he has raver AIDS.
For now I'm avoiding alcohol simply because drinking fairly/very heavily 7 nights in a row can't be good for you :{ |

| | Tiesto - Elements of Life | ] | Ugh... work goes so much more slowly when you're recovering from the night before. Still not feeling 100% and these first three hours have taken forever, not helping that this job is BORING. The workload has increased a little, yesterday I did about an hours work which is a standing record.
Glad England got the victory last night without being the first team to concede a goal to Estonia in the qualifiers (only by a narrow margin). Wasn't a very exciting match though for the most part, Brazil game was far better to watch. We watched the game in Yates, then headed briefly to Bar ME where they had a surf board machine where you have to try and stay on as it rotates faster and faster. I was literally the worst person there lasting only 19 seconds, shows how awful my balance is really :< Typical Elements student night followed, love that place purely because they play alot of Pendulum and Tiesto tracks, not to mention Destination Calabria :D *trumpet* I expect that'll be one of the Fizz tracks for the Spain goers this year. I got home and because the PC was on from charging my iPod I sat down and chatted bollocks to people, haven't gone on my PC after a night out in ages. Kept me up until gone 3:30 though which took it toll on my alertness today.
Only 4 days until HTID in Lloret, considering we booked it just after New Year, what the fuck happened to the time between then and now? Its going scarily fast, which saddens me as I know the week will go by even quicker because I'll be having fun rather than being at work. First time going on a holiday of this kind though, seriously gonna reek havoc on my senses and my anticipation is sky rocketing. They give you yellow wristbands at the start of the week, if you are naughty they give you a red which is your last chance then if naughty again, you're out of the club for the rest of the holiday. I should whack a bouncer on the last day so I can bring a red band home.
Seeing 28 Weeks Later tonight, which should hopefully won't be as disappointing as other film sequels (hi Pirates 3). |

| | The Fray - How To Save A Life | ] | I second Chris' post, this boring job is starting to get on my tits as well. They're paying me alot of money and I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs for the most part of the week. I've not done any work today yet and the tasks I do occasionally get given are so simple and quick that they could easily do it themselves and they're only giving them to me to make me feel like I have a job to do. The general idea of hiring a temp is that you desperately need someone to fill a space in your team, it certainly was that way at LV but doesn't feel that way here. If by the time Spain comes around things haven't improved I'll start looking elsewhere again upon returning. Doing nothing isn't all its cracked up to be and I'd rather get paid less as long as I had some work to make the day go quicker.
Edit: Good thing though at least is that I have a rather detailed world map underneath my keyboard which I tend to look at quite alot. Looking at all the surreal time zones (i.e Spain being directly below us but being one hour ahead) and not understanding why so many of them cross over by miles. Not to mention how Russia is just so indescribably MASSIVE. Fascinating stuff the world we live in. |

Speaking of work, its not bad. I feel like dead weight alot of the time as I'm still in the stage of being given tasks which I complete in like 5 minutes. Luckily my team are very un-stereotypical JPM workers. They take breaks constantly, chat constantly, don't do all that much work, etc so I don't feel too bad for it. I miss the decent coffee and huge office atmosphere of LV, but I'm getting used to this.
(video games) I've given video games alot more attention these past 2/3 weeks, good for me :} Think I'm near the end of FF12, but I can't deny I've really enjoyed the game. Poor characters and standard plot, but gameplay I've really grown attached to. Exploring levels no longer annoys me due to separate encounter screens. Good RPG, but not a good FF, IMO. Thinking of picking up that new Mana game on PS2 as well, just hoping its not too much like Legend of Mana and more like SD2 or 3. Also picked up CnC3 on the 360 since my PC is giving me alot of shit lately. They ported it really nicely to make it as comfortable as possible to play without a mouse and keyboard. The game itself is pure class as well, for once EA did good. (/video games)

| | Ten Seconds Before Sunrise - Tiesto | ] | Just a few scribblings to sum up what I feel are worth writing down.
I picked up the new Tiesto album, Elements of Life a week ago and it hasn't left my CD drive yet. It strikes an epic balance between inventive vocal tracks with signature trance stormers. I often felt that Tiesto was overrated for being ranked the "best DJ in the world" but when I listen to stuff like this, I think I can understand why he gets such a title. I'm not gonna go into annoying fanboy mode here, but I can definitely recommend this album for anyone who appreciates any form of trance or epic trance. 5Gs!
Spiderman 3, enjoyable enough. They really packed alot of villains into this movie compared to the first two but it didn't feel "too" overdone. This of course led to the movie being long, a little too long at 2 hours 20 and the ending felt like LotR 3 again, just finish already. They progressed more on character relationships than the second film and had less silly, false physics. Oh and emo-Spidey was hilarious. Better than Spiderman 2 but not as good as 1 IMO. 4Gs.
I recently downloaded all of Ugly Betty and watched through up to episode 21, really enjoying it! Great set of characters and alot of the twists you really don't see coming (well I don't, if you do then fuck you).
Slinky on Friday was awesome, shame its the last one in Bournemouth ever though :{ Its moving to some super club in Portsmouth called Liquid so I foresee regular trips to there in future. Whilst queueing up to get in though there were four random student girls behind us having a brief chat with us. When we informed them that tonight was Slinky only and that the entry fee was £15 they totally didn't believe us and thought we were taking the piss :{ One of them even bet "any money we wanted" that it wasn't £15. I really wanted to but I figured that sods law would kick and the entry fee might have slightly upped or dropped therefore making me lose so I didn't bother. But it didn't and the girls still actually paid to get in despite having no idea what they were getting into XD We saw them around near the beginning but I doubt the £4+ drinks or lack of RnB/cheese impressed them as we never saw them again after that. Seeing Lisa Lashes live though was incredible and the Kym Ayres set was sweaty as hell considering she was playing in this tiny room with no air con and about 100 people. The huge mirror behind her completely steamed up and I felt like I was dancing in a sauna. Her set was brilliant though and me and Vince got a photo with her afterwards 8) She totally recognises us now as her fans. http://www.dontstayin.com/uk/bournemouth/elements/2007/may/04/photo-6036486
Tonight we're driving up to Portsmouth for Josh's birthday, hope we have a good one! For now I'll play some FF12, I dunno why but I'm actually starting to find it playable, 3 months after buying it. Stranger things have happened but not many. |

| | Littlest Things - Lily Allen | ] | Jesus, this week has been a mini era of awesome all in itself.
For starters I have a new job. JP Morgan (after a grand total of 5 interviews within a year) offered me a 3-6 month temporary position as a Project/Financial Analyst, earning £12 an hour. This eliminates all worry I had about being out of work and although its once again only a temp job, prospects of going permanent are far higher than LV= at this company due to the sheer size difference. Plus this will just build on my analytical experience more and more. Starting in two weeks so I'll work next week at LV as arranged then take a week off (its about time, I've not actually had one at all since I started last October).
Second, I just blew £450 on a pair of Technics 1210 turntables since my boss was selling his almost brand new ones. Another reason why a new job is especially useful at this stage. These decks are just fucking mint though, industry standard (i.e 95% of all clubs ever have a pair) and for good reason. He also threw in a pretty sweet mixer so now I'm back on the DJ'ing alot more than before and starting to do pretty good now that I have the amazing hardware. Now all I need is a grand for a pair of CDJ's :{
Finally last night we headed to Elements for the typical student night of commercial dance tunes and cheap shitty alcopops. Ran into a few people we knew and danced to Cascada and Pendulum, but the thing that really made the night was running into the lovely Kym Ayres (see icon, one of Bournemouths up and coming hard house DJ's). It was her birthday and was just out with a friend as part of the crowd. We exchanged a few pleasantries with her for about 10 minutes (she even guessed my age as being 25 instead of the 29-30 I normally get) which was really nice given I really look up to her as a DJ and a hottie. She signed a piece of paper for me and Vince each along with a cute little heart. T'was just a totally unexpected experience and cool to see celebrities in their own field to be such nice people.
That covers this week to a T. I'm feeling pretty hungover still from last night but got Destiny to look forward to at the weekend and Slinky's 10th birthday the weekend after. Gotta cherish times as fortunate as these. |

| | TRANCE | ] | Bournemouth is getting a new Wetherspoons! Its about time we had more than two, its being built in Winton so only about 10 minutes walk from my place and is surrounded by curry houses \o/ We ate out last Thursday at Bombay Palace in Winton which had to be one of the best curries I've ever had. Curry was very tasty (had balti), chicken was chunky and the peshwari was moist, soft and actually contained raisins (alot of curry houses don't bother with the raisins in their peshwari). A little more expensive than my average curry but easily worth it, will be eating there again! 5G's. Me and Ant karaeoke'd to Whats My Name Again at the pub after. Felt weird singing that song without the screen telling us who got the higher score :{ </singstar>
Tranzmission was good, not as good as previous year since the whole "wow Ally Pally" effect wasn't as huge obviously. Some sets I really anticipated were a bit of a let down but some sets I didn't expect much from were actually really good. Plus the Frantic room belted out some brilliant stuff. Josh describes the individual sets in greater detail and apparently there was a fair amount of trouble in the drum'n'bass room, so glad I'm not really into that genre! Attracts way too many pikeys and thugs. There was a funfair ride too, with its £5 ticket price for only about 3 minutes ride, me and Vince went ahead on it anyway and his glasses broke in his pocket :{ Put a downer on his night really since he claims the only thing he could see was tits, everything else just a blur. We headed straight home via Waterloo after it all finished at 6am and I chatted to Josh the entire train journey home. Only thing is I kept slipping in and out of consciousness due to being so knackered so got the feeling that alot of responses I kept giving him were completely off topic. Sorry 'bout that :{
Got a splitting headache now though, probably the messy sleep pattern from the weekend so glad I have the day off! Job interviews commence over the next couple days and then my birthday at the weekend. Ian/Rich/Andy you guys coming along Friday night?
Woop woop take it easy y'all. |

| | Nightmare - The World | ] | So last weekend I updated my CV with my LV job experience, and practically rewrote the whole thing because of how shoddily it was written. Its amazing what some office experience can really teach you, not just skill set wise, but it terms of speaking and writing professionally. Went to Hays last Monday and gave them my CV and told them a bunch of shit like I want finance analyst roles, minimum £18k etc etc.
I have two interviews already, one with JP Morgan (again yes shut up) and one with Barclays. Both companies came back saying they're really interested in seeing me, as opposed to just picking me out of a group of crappy graduate CV's and me begging for any old shit. Experience really does the trick!
Since I'm writing an LJ entry, I'll just say Death Note is the best animé I've ever seen and I'm not the kind of person to openly talk about anime hurrrr. Up to episode 23 and its so intriguing and smart. Kudos to JAPAN.
Now I'm off to Ant's to help his parents put a bunch of rubble into a skip and claim a free take away meal. 7 course indian meal for £10 tomorrow night (we're intrigued by how big each course will be for that price) at restaurant in Winton, then Tranzmission at the weekend.
Things keep getting a fuck load better, I'm lovin it 8) |
